Tucked into the private woodland of Gisselfeld Klosters near Rønnede, Skovtårnet offers a perspective on Denmark that rolling farmland rarely permits. Designed by EFFEKT architects, this hour-glass shaped structure is known locally as tårnet i skoven, drawing visitors who want an unhurried treetop experience in Denmark without battling crowds.
The approach begins along a raised timber walkway winding through damp hollows and over small streams before coiling upward. Built as the signature centerpiece of Camp Adventure park in Denmark, the path lifts you gently through the canopy until you clear the upper branches. On clear afternoons, the view stretches across South Zealand all the way to the Øresund Bridge and southern Sweden.
Walking up through the trees was surprisingly peaceful. The ramp is so gradual you barely notice you are climbing until you poke above the canopy.
The Corten steel looks stunning against the green leaves. We booked an early morning slot and had the boardwalk completely to ourselves for twenty minutes.
The view from the top platform was magnificent, though it got quite windy up there. Bring a decent windbreaker even on a warm sunny day.
Very well organized and easy to reach by car from Copenhagen. The walk through the woods before you even reach the tower was just as enjoyable.

General entry for adults costs 175 DKK online, while children aged three to fourteen pay 150 DKK. Booking a timeslot online in advance is wise during summer weekends, as entry slots can sell out and tickets cost 25 DKK more at the counter.
Most visitors spend between two and two and a half hours on site. The walk from the car park along the wooden boardwalk takes roughly 25 minutes each way, leaving about an hour to ascend the spirals and take in the view from the top.
Unlike the historic Round Tower in Copenhagen or standard timber walkways across northern Germany, this structure relies on an open hyperboloid Corten steel frame that sits deep in secluded wilderness rather than a manicured park or city center.
Dogs on short leashes are permitted on the forest boardwalks, but they are not allowed onto the spiral tower itself. Camp Adventure provides dedicated dog kennels and water bowls near the ticket desk where pets can rest while you climb.
The ramp is wide, flat, and enclosed by heavy steel mesh reaching chest height on adults. Because the structure curves inward at its waist, you always feel enclosed by the frame, though the open lattice does let the breeze through near the upper rings.
The site remains open in rain and light wind, and the non-slip oak planks drain well. Management only pauses access during severe thunder or storm-force winds exceeding safe operational limits.
Yes, strollers, wagons, and pushchairs can roll from the parking lot straight to the observation platform. There are no steps or turnstiles along the entire route.
